Biography

Di Zeng is a Chinese pianist, pedagogue, and photographer. As a pianist, he has performed extensively in Guangzhou and held recitals in Oberlin. His performances at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore have further highlighted his musical expertise, while his video recordings on social media have garnered hundreds of thousands of views.

Di Zeng made his debut as a solo pianist at the Guangzhou Opera House Steinway Hall in 2019. Following that, he performed intensively across Guangzhou, covering a repertoire that includes Chopin, Schumann, Scriabin, Mozart, and Beethoven. In 2020, he held a solo recital at the Guangzhou Art Museum as part of the gallery’s art program. He is also an active content creator online, uploading a video recording of his performance of J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in A-flat major in 2017, which received 150k views. He continued to upload performances, including a 2021 recording of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with dubbed orchestra parts, teaching himself audio software to merge solo piano with the orchestra recording.

In 2024, Di embarked on an exciting new chapter of his career, pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, studying under Professor Tian Ying. Alongside his studies, Di is building Pinecrest Piano Studio, a premier teaching space in Miami, where he continues to cultivate the next generation of pianists through comprehensive, customized lessons.

Teaching piano remains integral to Di Zeng's approach to musicianship. Professionally trained, he offers lessons that incorporate piano techniques, music theory, and history to students ranging from beginners to conservatory-level pianists. He closely monitors each student's progress and helps them select repertoire suited to their individual style.

Photography is another facet of Di Zeng's artistry, enhancing his musical career. Before entering the music conservatory, he was an active photographer in high school, leading the photographer’s club and publishing annual photo albums. He utilizes his photography and videography skills to create high-quality content, contributing to his popularity as a musician online.

Born in 2000, Di Zeng began his piano education at age four with Xiaolin Cen at Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou. He graduated from Oberlin Conservatory in 2022, where he studied under Peter Takacs, and earned a Master's degree in Piano performance and Pedagogy at Peabody Conservatory under Yonghi Moon. He has participated in masterclasses with notable pianists such as Boris Berman, Dang Thai Son, and Spencer Myer.
